TOPEX/POSEIDON Proposal Announcement

The issues surrounding the development of the first Earth Observing System radar altimeter satellite have been resolved in favor of a joint France and U.S. TOPEX/POSEIDON Follow-On mission. A joint U.S.-French science team will be selected to support this program. (Specific proposal announcement dates have not yet been determined.) In the meantime, a new U.S. science team for the TOPEX/POSEIDON Extended Mission will be selected spring 1996 by another formal research announcement. The new U.S. team will complement and work with the French team (already selected), as was done for the TOPEX/POSEIDON Primary Mission.
